Anden Horsebow
Stats:
Faction: Elf
Type: Cavalry
Atk: 2 Health:6
Ability: Archery
Ready Time: 8(T3) / 6(T6)
Set: Expert Pack
*Analsyis done based on the high-tier version alone
Anden Horsebow is one archer that has been seeing decent-to-massive usage because of one aspect it has: it is a Cavalry type. Being Cavalry is a big advantage since it is not weak against tramplers while there are limited Pikeman units available. While the best pikeman around, is also hard to get (Dragonbone Rider).
In spite of its big body and moderately fast ready time, He is left behind by his big sister, the Shield Rider. There's no point in comparing SR and Anden Horsebow, as Shield Rider is inarguably the best elf card ever printed.
So why use AH instead of SR? For some, it's speed (6 of AH versus 8 of SR's ready time). But for most of us, the main reason we use it is due to economic reasons. Shield Rider's value is so ridiculous, that most of us settle with the block-less cavalry with the same 2/6 body.
For 6 ready time, a 2/6 body is good enough for 1s/2s play...but its stability in 3s and 4s is questionable since it can die in 1 turn when coupled with a strong attacker (i.e. festering troll) and a blasting/bolting unit.
Anden Horsebow is a popular choice for fast 2s cavalry-based decks and can also be seen in demon ally/elf ally 2s squads using Corrupted Healers.
AH might not be as good as SR, but being one of the Cavalry-type archers makes it a good anti-flyer card to squeeze in those decks.
My Rating:
Speed: 8
6 wait time for 2/6? yes, please!
Usefulness: 7
IT IS GOOD, just that Shield Rider is better by a mile
Versatility: 7
not so stable in 4s battles - low survivability
Overall: 7.3 - it is cheap, it can also give a feel of how Shield Rider works in a deck
