Archmage Valenti
Stats
Faction: Human
Type: Hero
Unit/Artifact/Spell Slot: 4/0/2
Abilities: Block, Zap 2
Attack: 0
Health: 5
Ready Time: 8 (T4) / 6 (T7)
Set: Achievement Card
This will be the first time that I will tackle an achievement card. We already know the usual achievement hero favorites are Hound of Yauba, Vostag The Diseased and Skarg Bonesmasher, so why bother talking about Valenti? Due to sheer curiosity, we will dig deep into what Valenti has to offer.
A ready time of 6 is decent enough for a hero. He can easily dish damage to quick attackers in 1s battles. Those who like to spam with Engorged Imp will have a alightly tougher time in dealing with Valenti because of block. So all the damage will be coming from exploding imps, but they need to be adjacent to him to deal 2 hits. He is quite viable in 1s. He has speed. He has zap 2 to take care of those Estian Warcats. Block helps in keeping him on the field for some time and deal enough damage to opponents. Those 2 spell slots has BALL LIGHTNING written all over, just to add to its offensive prowess.
He can also be used for larger battles, but having 0 attack is kind of a turn off. Most people use fast units fo their capability to deal early morale hits in 3s/4s, and this is not Valenti's forte.
Most Humans have their Heavy-Indirect, Low-Direct signature. If you are playing 3s or 4s and feel the need to have a fast, zapping hero, there's always a Spellbinder Batu to do that (+reflect 2 which is very useful in large squad battles), coupled with 2 spell slots for Necromancy.
Valenti is a good card, but he will really have big problems dealing against immune (and reflect) units. Having no attack point makes him really vulnerable to Soulless and HoY. And if he's up against a Mirror Contraption, he'll be dead in 2 turns.
He can be obtained by winning 300 games using 2 or more human squads. If you have him, try to fiddle around.
Ratings:
Speed: 7
not bad, 6 is actually decent
Utility: 7
Block and Zap is good, but having 0 attack kinda hurts its playability
Versatility: 5
not the most ideal card to use in 3s/4s battle, but could still work
